Penhaligons – Iris Prima

Launched in 2013 Iris Prima £134 was created in 2013 and was designed to be a unisex fragrance for men and women.

They Say:

Iris Prima is a work of olfactory choreography, with Iris Absolute in the role of Prima Ballerina. Effortlessly elegant and faintly melancholic, Iris Prima offers a fascinating glimpse into the secluded yet magical world of the ballet.

In a unique partnership with English National Ballet, Penhaligon’s set about capturing the very essence of ballet, turning to master perfumer Alberto Morillas as choreographer. Alberto has captured every aspect of this remarkable artistic world in the iconic Penhaligon’s bottle.

Head Notes
Bergamot, Green Amber, Pink Pepperimage
Heart Notes
Iris Absolute, Jasmine Sambac, Hedione, Paradisoneimage
Base Notes
Leather, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Benzoin.

I Say:

For me this is a woody heavier fragrance, with lighter floral top notes. It is wonderfully balanced, being darker and masculine and playful, and feminine. For me however, it seems an unremarkable and unmemorable fragrance. Odd considering the pedigree and experience behind the fragrance.

Do I like it? the most I can muster up is, ‘it’s okay’ hardly my normal reaction to other fragrances in the Penhaligons range. Sorry this one has not come out en pointe.
