Another venture into London, and yes more cocktails! Though this time in Victoria. up for review today is Browns
Placed in Cardinal walk a covered shopping area as you come out from Victoria Underground Station surrounded by chain restaurants we found Browns.
ENJOY THE BUZZ OF BROWNS ANY TIME OF DAY
Ideally located for shoppers, theatre-goers and city workers, Browns in Victoria offers classic dishes with the usual Browns flair and stylish cocktails in spacious surroundings.
We’re close to the iconic Cardinal Place, a magnificent shopping and leisure centre on Victoria Street. Plus we’re within walking distance of some of the best art galleries, theatres and museums in London, so there’s every reason to visit Victoria.
I want to say this is a typical after work bar where people go on a Friday night after a long work week, cheap and cheerful. we didn’t go to eat so I can’t comment on the food menu really, however we soon found ourselves tucked up on two cosy leather chairs by the window watching the world go by. I did order some bar food beetroot and humous crostini which arrived very very late, in fact we had to chase up where it was. Really disappointing.
The cocktails were cheap and cheerful but £7.50 normally and on a deal for £4.50 you really can’t expect much. We had Rhubarb and Cucumber Collins Warner Edwards Victoria’s rhubarb gin, Campari, rhubarb & rosehip cordial, lemon juice & cucumber bitters, topped with soda. Served in a tall glass with ice. You could certainly taste the Rhubard which was delicious and refreshing but quite watered down I would say. The Blackberry Fizz Absolut Raspberri, Créme de Cassis, Chambord, lemon juice, Prosecco, was very sweet and maybe a little too sickly for me. The prosecco gave it a lovely fizz which was delightful but again it tasted very watery not with the usual punch you would hope from a cocktail.
As a place for cheap after work drinks, why not? was it memorable? definitely not.
