So another year older 31, and looking to make the most of it, so whilst curled up with a cup of coffee. I came across this article.
So lets see how I match up?
1. Start Saving for Retirement Now, Not Later
Debt is no laughing matter, I clearly can recall the sleepless nights as a student knowing that there is only £5 in my bank account to get me to the end of the month. Or when woefully unemployed looked at the 2k of overdraft I was looking at. Luckily the only debt I have to worry about is car repayments and a mortgage.
2. Start Taking Care of Your Health Now, Not Later
This is a hard pill to swallow, and so easily falls by the wayside. For me I think it will be a constant uphill battle. I feel I need to see this as a preventative measure as well as laying strong foundations to support my future health. I vary between healthy diets, raw food, as well as being vegetarian and then a curry, pizza and cheesy chips.
3. Don’t Spend Time with People Who Don’t Treat You Well
This is hard as we all want to be popular, we want 100’s of Facebook friends, constant dinners, lunches and events to go to and don’t like the idea of ‘loosing’ a friend as well the be honest as a ‘grown up’ its hard to make more, people seem so settled with their lives. But, no friendship is worth tears, feeling let down or hurt over. we wouldn’t put up with it in a relationship so why would we in a friendship?
4. Be Good to the People You Care About
Ah those good people we take for granted, the ones there at 3am mopping mascara stained tears, that we text constantly when we are feeling low and ignore when we are feeling better. Make an effort, they have proved they deserve your attention.
5. You can’t have everything; Focus On Doing a Few Things Really Well
Compromise! you can’t have it all now. But you can have it all step by step. Don’t get overwhelmed by what the worlds asks of you, be focused on what you can do right now, and plan for where you can be in the future.
6. Don’t Be Afraid of Taking Risks, You Can Still Change
Challenge yourself, you weren’t who you were when you are 5, so you know you won’t be where you are when you were 50. Embrace the change.
7. You Must Continue to Grow and Develop Yourself
Changing takes effort, for those who say it’s ‘just how I am’ try saying ‘Its how I choose to be’ see how that feels. If you don’t like it, then change it.
8. Nobody (Still) Knows What They’re Doing, Get Used to It
Yay! we are all like swans graceful on top and paddling like crazy underneath. None of us know what we are doing, just some hide it better than others.
9. Invest in Your Family; It’s Worth It
We only get one. The may not be our biological one, or what others traditionally see as family. However, they are ours so cherish them.
10. Be kind to yourself, respect yourself
We are our own worst critic, listen to what our friends say they he a much more unbiased opinion of us the we will.
