So a while ago I bought a Phillips Lumea, looking to wonders of investing in no more shaving or getting my bits out for a poor beautician to wax my fuzzies! However after using it for a while it kinda just sat in the box, so what with spring around the corner and with the aim of having my bits on show (or at least my legs) I think it is time to get in a regime.
If you are looking for a safe, fast and painless solution to unwanted hair with lasting results, the Philips Lumea is a good choice. Using Advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology (IPL), Lumea offers one solution to replace traditional hair removal methods such as waxing, shaving, creams, gels and epilators.
Lumea has two treatment modes; Slide and Flash is suitable for fast treatment of larger areas such as legs – you simply glide the device over the skin you want to treat, smoothly and quickly. To treat curvy areas or targeted zones, such as bikini line, you have the option of Step and Flash mode too. As well as being effective for legs, arms, back and tummy, Lumea comes with a specially designed precision attachment for use on the face.
Philips clinical studies have shown significant hair reduction in as little as two fortnightly treatments, with optimal hair-free results achieved after four to five fortnightly treatments. To maintain these results, simply repeat treatment every four to six weeks. Time between treatments may vary based on your individual hair regrowth.
They recommend weekly treatments for the first 4 weeks and then monthly, so there’s going to be at least 5 updates to this review. Now I am lucky (or unlucky) enough to have dark corse hair on lighter skin so this should work very effectively on me.
It is a painstaking process and my model only has a 20 minute charge so not enough to do your bikini line and both legs without having to recharge. I find on the highest setting it is fine but can be a little sensitive on your more… personal areas shall we say? occasionally you get a little wine and a smell of burning hair even though you need to wax or shave beforehand, and the ILP light has to get down to the root, however for those ladies here who have had their bikini line waxed or eplilated this is a dream compared to that!
So week one down, another 4 weeks scheduled in the diary and lets see where it goes!
