Finished your make up? – not until you’ve put on Finishing Powder

Okay in a world of Mousse, Creme and Liquid foundations it seems the powder has been something of a forgotten bygone era. it conjures up images of 50’s powder puffs and cakey masked faces thick with foundation.

I’ll let you into a secret I love powder… Don’t get me wrong I have by no means perfect skin and need to use a liquid foundation as well, but however I just don’t feel ‘done’ unless I have finished it off with a light brush of some powder.

Today I am trying

Constance Carroll – Silk Finishing powder (99p – £3.49)

I bought this for the bargain price of 99p from Fragrance Direct, my normal MAC powder was running out and well budgets constraints and all I thought for this price it would be worth a try.

constance carroll finishing powderThey say:

Constance Carroll Silk Powder is a loose silky smooth face powder. Apply generously over make up base or just on its own to give a perfect flawless, airbrush effect finish.

I say:

I bought the product in ‘translucent’ though it comes in two other shades as well. if I’m honest although it looks a little cheap and tacky. The font on the front looks a little ‘high street’ for me as a product it holds up really well. It brushes on very lightly, providing a nice light coverage which isn’t heavy on the skin and doesn’t give you that thick clogged feeling you can sometimes get. The colour blends well regardless of your skin tone which means no having to buy another shade for that summer tan. Also it is very durable, that combined over a foundation it really does last all day and even the gym on the way home (well most of it anyway). it also helps keep the shine at bay for those with oily skin who can’t work that glowy dewy look!

A great make up bag essential for everyone and for a bargain price too! The 50’s did have something definitely right with their make up, now lets not forget it!
