Recently I was in London, Location scouting for a photo shoot if you must ask, I know trust me it sounds far more glam than it is, however I was in leafy Hampstead and it being that time of day I thought I would pop in for a drink and some lunch at The Old Bull and Bush (http://www.thebullandbush.co.uk/)
Our menu changes with the seasons and is modern British, comfortably interwoven with some Mediterranean influences.
It ranges from traditional favourites such as fish and chips and steaks to freshly made pizzas and pastas with the chef’s daily specials showcasing the finest market fresh ingredients. There’s something for everyone and for all occasions too. You don’t have to go for the full works if you don’t want to, just have a snack and a lovely drink in the bar with your friends.
Wine is something of a passion for us and nothing pleases us more than when we unearth a new discovery that blows our socks off! We’ve got everything from crisp refreshing whites, trendy pinks to fat juicy reds by the bottle or glass so we are really looking forward to your reaction to all the latest treasures!
We are also very proud of our beers and we have a great selection of cask ales, super chilled draft and bottled beers to quench your thirst.
Just stop by for a pint of ale, read the papers and chill out or book a table and enjoy simple food prepared with care.
It had all the potential of being a cute place to head out for a casual lunch date with, It was sunny however they had only put out half the tables as they were expecting a delivery, meaning that we had to go inside on a glorious summers day, there were three items on the menu that were unavailable due to the fact the delivery hadn’t arrived (at half one).
The look of the place, is cute modern and informally interspersed with old style table and chairs, and everything was clean and immaculate. The food prices are fairly reasonable however the drink prices I feel are slightly high for the area and the range left a lot to be desired.
Sadly due to the location it doesn’t only attracted young professionals and people meeting for lunch so I tried to enjoy my goats cheese pizza (which arrived after over 45 mins and having to check with staff) but sadly it was shared with an annoying child over the way who seemed to be intent on covering his hands with orange juice and wiping them on the table, which his mother seemed not bothered by in the least. Thank the lord I wasn’t on an actual date.
In all the place has potential, which sadly due to the lack of organisation of food, and general vibe and mediocre food really left me lacking.
